Dubai's Global Village is an enormous retail and leisure complex. Inside you will find pavilions representing the culture of more than 40 different countries with shows and traditional food and artisan products.
From humble beginnings on the banks of Dubai Creek in 1996 with just a few stalls selling products from different countries, today Global Village is a huge complex on the outskirts of the city.
In decline but still interesting
Although the park is divided into different areas, in reality, there are only a few genuine products from a small range of countries, the rest are Chinese products which would typically be seen in a cheap bazaar.
Despite this, Global Village is still interesting for tourists because of the many locals who attend the venue, dressed in traditional costume.
As in many other places, although this is a kind of "leisure park", women are not allowed to enter the enclosure in shorts tousers.
