Dubai Fountain

Inaugurated in spring 2009, the Dubai Fountain is the Emirates' answer to the Bellagio in Las Vegas. That answer, typically for Dubai, is to build something far bigger and far more stunning.

The similarity between the Dubai Fountain and Las Vegas' Bellagio is no coincidence, as they were designed by the same team of engineers. The basic difference between them is the size. People who have seen the Las Vegas fountains may find it difficult to imagine something bigger. Dubai's government couldn't imagine having something smaller than another city.

The location of the Dubai Fountain in the Burj Khalifa Lake, also adds to its appeal. Watching the spectacle from the terraces of the Dubai Mall, with the world's tallest building in the background, is an experience that is difficult to forget.

Facts and figures

The Dubai Fountain measures 900 feet long with water jets reaching up to 500 feet high, and is illuminated with 6,600 lights and 50 colored projectors.
